Child & Family Sessions Information

Child & family Photography in the Houston area, including The Woodlands, Cypress, Magnolia, Montgomery, Spring, Tomball, Kingwood, and Conroe.

Kids LOVE me! I've got five, yep FIVE kids. All at different ages and with completely different personalities. We hire someone to take our family pictures every year, at least once a year (What can I say? I love pictures). So I know what it's like behind and in front of the camera. From selecting outfits to getting those natural grins (from your toddler to your teenagers), I've got this family photography thing DOWN. WARNING: I’ve been known to tell some pretty “bad” jokes that kids happen to LOVE. What can I say?! I just get kid humor!

Ah, come on! Do we have to take professional family photos?

In my opinion, yes … yes, you do. You’re making a commitment to those you love by creating time to celebrate each other and your bond. It’s important!

Everyone likes a list! So, here’s my short list of why I think professional family photos are a must. I could go on and on, but I’ll spare you the details. Bottom line is … it’s not about being the perfect family or creating the perfect family photo. It’s about choosing a photographer that allows and encourages you to BE YOUR FAMILY.

I’m that photographer!

the time is now

You and your family are perfect today. Just the way you are. Crooked teeth. An extra ten pounds. Kid made bangs. Maybe braces? That facial hair experiment gone wrong or ... right? Did someone say - pimples? Don’t wait. Life is short! These are the moments to capture. Not only are you documenting growth, you’re providing visual memories and maybe some laughs for future generations. This is one investment you will never, EVER, regret. #CarpeDiem

you’re SO worth it

“We don’t need to pay that much for good photos! Our cellphone photos are just fine.” Please, I’m begging you … stop saying this. And, please stop believing it. Professional photos are always better. They just are. Investing in images that tell a story and represent your family dynamic are priceless. I love creating lasting photos that remind you just how colorful your world is because of your family. #MyFamJam

it’s fun

I get it- the thought of coordinating schedules, outfits and attitudes to gather the entire family for a photo session can be daunting … just one more to-do. But, it’s all about the approach. Think of it as a group project. A bonding experience. Ask your family for input on locations, colors and clothing. Even let them choose their outfits … “OMG, did you just say that?!” I promise you, the more you involve them the easier it will be. Bonus - I offer pre-shoot consultations to help. During the shoot, I know how to keep things moving and light. Even when a toddler decides picture day is the time for his biggest meltdown, it’s ok. Remember … I have five kids. I’ve got this! #NoStress

blank walls are sad

We live in a digital world. That’s a fact. But, there's just something special about a printed and displayed image. While our images are often left to live on our computers or in our phones, the photos displayed in your home become a part of the family. This effort shows your family they are the bee’s knees! “But, I don’t know how to display them!” You’re in luck! With my photo packages, I offer wall gallery assistance. I use special software to create mockups and I can show you how different sizes, styles, and layouts will look on your actual walls. Make your photos happy, give them a HOME! #ColorYourWalls

WHAT'S THE PROCESS? HOW MUCH DO SESSIONS COST?

Pricing is the same for kid & family sessions as it is for senior sessions. When you reserve your session, you pay the initial Creative Fee of $650. Due up front to reserve your session. This does include a $500 product credit that you can use when it is time to purchase products.  The other $150 is for my time spent shooting and editing. The creative fee that you pay up front does NOT include any digital images, as those are considered separate products. Some clients like to have digitals, while some prefer tangible products, such as albums, graduation cards, canvases etc. Other clients like a combination of digital and tangible products. Choose what works best for you!

Two to three weeks after your session, you will be sent a link to view your gallery. These images in your gallery have been culled and edited (color enhancement, blemish removal etc). Once you view your gallery, we begin the ordering process. Most clients like to have an ordering session at my office, so they can see all of the products and sizes while they are ordering. While this is highly recommended, it is not required.

Please note that when it is time to purchase products, there is a $500 minimum (which you would have already paid with your Creative Fee). spryART offers all kinds of amazing products to color your walls and life, from canvases, to albums, to graduation cards, to prints on metal. I highly encourage anyone interested to stop by my office to look at the products in person sometime before the session. The full pricing and product catalog can be found here.

Where should we have our session?

This is entirely up to you! It depends on what kind of look and feel you want for your session. Remember, ask your family. Give them a say! Something naturey? Something more urban? Maybe the beach is more your style. I love traveling to Galveston for shoots - gorgeous light and locations. I have traveled as far north as the ice glaciers of Alaska, and as far south as the beaches in Mexico for photo shoots.  If you have a family property in the country that you like - let’s go! I would love to shoot your family at meaningful location. Imagine the smiles!

WHEN SHOULD WE HAVE OUR SESSION?

I generally like to shoot in the "golden hour," which is the last hour and a half before sunset. The light is warm and flattering. During midday, when every ray of the sun seems to find its way to our delicate, overexposed skin, the shadows created are usually too deep in contrast to the glare. Instead of fighting the harsh light, it’s better to schedule outdoor shooting during the Golden Hour when the sun still works its magic—but in our favor.

I’ve noticed some night shots that I really like. Can we do some of our shoot after dark?

Yes you can! I love night photography when the lights in the background create a beautiful backdrop. We would just need to discuss and arrange it before your shoot, as special equipment is required that I would not normally bring to a shoot.

Do you offer mini sessions?

Yes, I offer mini sessions at a warehouse studio in Houston. It has a unique, funky, urban vibe and is perfect for anyone wanting a shorter, climate controlled session. Read more about mini sessions here.

Tracy is so great to work with. She has taken such beautiful pictures of us and they are amazing pieces of art. To be able to look at pictures hanging on our walls that show such happiness is truly priceless! Her personality is AMAZING. You will have so much fun working with her and because so comfortable that when the process is over, you will want to find another reason to hire her!!
